Why are you closing, what is the future of Amy’s Farm?
We do not want to close this wonderful farm. We have been stewards of this land for over 35 years, but we do not own the land. Now, it is no longer available to us to lease. The land has been sold and we must be moved off by August 30. At this point, the future of Amy’s Farm is unclear. As we have more news, we will update our website and social media sites.
For those of you who know us well, you are familiar with our mission to cultivate, educate, and preserve. It is our wish to continue this mission even as the land sells from underneath us. We have hope and we will strive to create more beautiful spaces like Amy’s Farm for future generations.
Can I donate?
Our website is accepting monetary donations because salvage, storage, and moving expenses are costly. It is difficult for us to ask for donations for a farm that is closing, as we do not know what the future of Amy’s Farm will be. Can I volunteer?
Although we are closed to the public, our work must continue urgently as there is much to accomplish in the next 60 days, ending on August 30. Please visit our website to see tangible ways that you can help us. We will continue to update our website with news, tasks, and multiple ways that you, our farm community, can help. We will be accepting volunteers, by appointment only, to come on the farm to help harvest food for donations, help dismantle important equipment, and help to leave the property in “broom clean” condition as the landowner requests.
Additionally, if you have connections or access to people with construction, welding, heavy equipment operators, trailers and dump trailers, and any kind of know-how for the type of tasks involved in moving an entire farm – then please reach out to us. We could really use your expertise!
Can I shop?
We know that many of you rely on our produce as a part of your healthy diet. We will continue to announce on social media and our website certain days in which we will open our produce stand so that you can shop for all of our summer vegetables including our delicious heirloom tomatoes, stone fruit, and summer squash. We planted all of our crops in anticipation of staying on this land indefinitely, so our veggies are all growing in abundance.
Currently, we are offering two days to shop at our produce stand this summer:
Fridays 3 pm - 6 pm
Saturdays 9 am – 1 pm
Can I visit to explore the farm or book a guided tour?
We are sorry that we can no longer offer these options to our community. The last week that you may explore the farm is Saturday, June 24 through Saturday, July 1 (closed Sunday and Monday) and the entrance fee is $20 per car. Please come prepared to pay at the gate. You may pay cash, Venmo, or GoFundMe.
We are no longer taking reservations for guided tours. We will be honoring all of our summer tour reservations that have been booked previously.
What is the plan for your farm-to-table restaurant, Uno Tre Otto?
In anticipation of the potential loss of the farmland, Amy has planted a satellite garden, off-site, in order to give her farm-to-table restaurant in Claremont, Uno Tre Otto, a seamless supply of seasonal produce. Careful planning went into establishing a new site, starting 6 months ago, using our farm compost and chemical-free methods to plant an array of veggies and herbs. So, when our original 10 acres are officially closed and out of production, you will still be able to enjoy Amy’s Farm Produce at her restaurant.
What will happen to all of your animals?
We have a plan for each animal on the farm. Some, we will be keeping at a new location as they have become part of our farm family. Others will be sold or adopted out. We will update our website with news on the animals that are available for sale or adoption.
